Uday V Doctor, MDPain Medicine
Dr. Doctor’s earlier life was spent as a pediatric and cardiac anesthesiologist at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, following a residency at Baylor College of Medicine, a pediatric anesthesia fellowship in the Harvard combined program at Boston Children’s Hospital, as well as a cardiac anesthesia fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. He was on the executive committee of Methodist Hospital during that time and served as a clinical assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine, where he trained residents and fellows.
With the advent of minimally invasive spine technology, and seeing the need for a spinal diagnostic approach in medicine, Dr. Doctor re-trained by completing a Pain Management and Spinal Diagnostics fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. In 1995 he co-founded SpineCare Consultants where he spent the next 20 years developing his unique method to diagnose and treat spine pain. Dr. Doctor’s approach is a complete reversal of how most spine pain is managed currently, which is usually to treat the symptoms with no endpoint. He recently published Dr. Doctor’s Little Back Book, which is an easy-to-use patient friendly manual on how to diagnose your neck, mid-back or low back pain, as well as treatment options including the Straight Spine Safe Spine therapy program. The proceeds from the book are being donated to fight opioid abuse in medicine.
Fellow Houston physicians have voted Dr. Doctor to the exclusive list of Texas Super Doctors as seen in Texas Monthly for eight consecutive years, 2011‐2018, a distinction held by only 5 percent of the doctors in the state. As a respected leader in the field of spinal diagnostics and therapeutics he is a sought-after spine consultant to many professional and college sports teams in Houston and Texas.
Dr. Doctor’s practice is limited to Spinal Diagnostics and Therapeutics, which does not include narcotic based pain management.
