Houston, TX – HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division is proud to announce that Jeff Mills, chief nursing officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, has been selected as one of 20 outstanding nurses by the Texas Nurses Association, District 9 Foundation. Individuals will be recognized at the 31st annual Nursing Celebration on Friday, November 10 at 6 p.m. at the Bayou City Event Center. 

For 31 years, Texas Nurses Association, District 9 Foundation has organized a nursing celebration and gala event to recognize outstanding nurses, present scholarships to nursing students and award grants in nursing research. These nurses and nursing students live and/or work in District 9, which includes Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker and Waller counties. District 9 (Greater Houston area) is the largest in Texas and boasts nearly 4,400 members.

Jeff Mills, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC began his nursing career as a pediatric intensive care nurse in Corpus Christi in 2003. While growing his nursing skills and leadership, he continued to advance his education by obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in 2007 and his Master’s in Business Administration from Houston Baptist University in 2012. He is currently enrolled in the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program at UT Health – Cizik School of Nursing in Houston, Texas. Jeff has served in numerous leadership roles throughout his tenure with HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. He is a graduate of the HCA Leadership Institute Advanced Leadership Program and currently serves as the chief nursing officer at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest. 

As a clinical leader, Mills is a strong proponent of maintaining a culture where exceptional care can be provided to the care team, the patients, and the families served. In order to achieve an exceptional care environment, it is critical to provide leaders with a positive environment to expand their clinical skills and education.
