Ten hospitals recognized for excellence in ob-gyn services
Houston, TX – HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division today announced that ten of their hospitals offering obstetrics and gynecological (Ob-Gyn) services have been honored as recipients of multiple Healthgrades 2022 Ob-Gyn awards. These awards include the 5-Star Ratings, Healthgrades Labor and Delivery Excellence Award™, the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award™ and the Overall Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award™.
Achieving these awards from Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients, places these HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division facilities among a select group of hospitals—within the top 5 - 10% of all hospitals evaluated for providing outstanding quality outcomes for mothers during and after labor and delivery, as well as gynecologic procedures, including surgery.

Healthgrades analyzed gynecologic surgery patient outcomes data for all patients from 16 individual states from 2018-2020. During this time, the following outcomes would have been expected:
- If all hospitals included in this analysis, as a group, performed similarly to hospitals receiving the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award, on average, 7,725 patients could have avoided complications.*
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award, have, on average, a 8% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award.*
- If all hospitals included in this analysis, as a group, performed similarly to hospitals receiving the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award, on average, 135,637 patients could have avoided complications.*
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award, have, on average, a 2% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Labor and Delivery Excellence Award.*
- if all hospitals included in this analysis, as a group, performed similarly to hospitals receiving the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award, on average, 153,369 patients could have avoided complications.*
- Patients treated in hospitals receiving the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award, have, on average, a 35% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence Award.*
- Patients undergoing a gynecologic procedure in hospitals rated 5 stars have, on average, a 65.9% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals rated 1 star.*
