Houston, TX – HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division is proud to announce the graduation of 10 new colleagues from the inaugural StaRx Pharmacy Tech Program. The first cohort program started on August 28, 2023 and culminated with 10 colleagues graduating on October 5th at the HCA Healthcare Center for Clinical Advancement. The StaRx Pharmacy Tech Program is designed to prepare students for a Pharmacy Technician role within the hospital setting and is nationally certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).

The StaRx Pharmacy Technician Program is open to all candidates with a high school diploma that have a desire to enter the hospital setting in the role of a pharmacy technician. The 12-week training program encompasses six weeks of interactive classroom discussions, skills practice and clinical documentation training with an experienced HealthTrust Workforce Solutions Pharmacy Educator and six additional weeks of pharmacy technician preceptorship at a hiring HCA Healthcare hospital.

Current participating hospitals within the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division include HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, HCA Houston Healthcare West, HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center, HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, The Woman’s Hospital of Texas and Corpus Christi Medical Center.

HCA Healthcare created this program at no cost to increase access to healthcare careers and to support the workforce pipeline.
