CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, October 23, 2017—Corpus Christi Medical Center (CCMC) today announced that it has achieved 5 stars for its performance in Peripheral Vascular Bypass for 10 years in a row (2009 – 2018) and the treatment of Bowel Obstruction from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This achievement is part of new findings and data released by Healthgrades and featured in the Healthgrades 2018 Report to the Nation. The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally. This variation in care has a significant impact on health outcomes. For example, from 2014-2016, if all hospitals as a group, performed similarly to hospitals receiving 5 stars as a group, on average 219,568 lives could potentially have been saved and 164,454 complications could potentially have been avoided. A 5-star rating indicates that CCMC’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
